some thoughts

I am obsessed with pumpernickel bread... I eat it all the time (i know: carb/schmarb) It has such good flavor and it makes a sandwich a little more interesting...I have been eating it for breakfast toasted with strawberries on it. YUM
I am craving apple picking in the north! I love to go out and get fresh apples and eat about 3 that day and bag about 3 dozen for later...missing that.
I am sick of cheerleaders that wine (i mean whine)...it makes me drink wine...Friday I received an anonymous typed letter mailed to the school!!!! From a cheerleader, signed "a friend". There are so many issues just in those sentences....well, you get the drift.
Why do parents enable their children??? Do they think it will "help" them in the long run??? I am so shocked to receive email from parents: "Please do not collect John's homework, I forgot to put it in his backpack." Did you catch the key word??? I mean are parents responsible to put the 8th grader's homework into his back pack??? Why don't they just come to school with them and turn it in too!! LOL
okay enough complaining...
I stood in Walmart today and read part of the book The Last Lecture. I stood in Walmart and cried today.
I was awe struck by the fog over the cow pasture this morning...with the sun coming up...beautiful.

Happy Birthday to my friend....

One of my friends wrote this, and I am astonished to see how they fit me as well. This is a friend that I have known for 16 years, although we are not very close, we are close in heart. I am happy to find that we are better friends than I expected at the time we lived close to each other...she is precious...

1 I'm becoming less of a middle child as I grow up
2 Baking relaxes me
3 I love to watch chimney swifts fly in circles
4 Some days I don't like children
5 God has a purpose for me and I want to be smack dab in the middle.....
6 Something evil inside me is happy when others gain weight too
7 Sometimes I get up in the middle of the night and drink tea from my fine china
8 Home is my favorite place but I do LOVE adventure
9 I could play ping pong for hours
10 My husband still gets me after 27 years
11 Give me a challenge!
12 When I close my eyes at night I see colors that I've never seen before
13 I deeply love my family
14 I'm thinking of painting my kitchen.....again
15 One of the best moments of my life was spent washing stinky feet
16 I turn 48 years old tomorrow and I still feel young.....most of the time.

comments from Emy

She is playing in her first soccer game of the season and I (of course) am cheering here on from the sidelines. One time, as an opponent was kicking the ball in, and Emy was standing right in front of me, I took the opportunity to "parent coach" her. I know, all you coaches out there are disgusted right now..."Leave the coaching to us..., come on lady" anyway, as she stood in front of me I couldn't resist... "Em, you have to go after the ball and get it!" and she turns and looks at me and says "Mama, I already did that once." Then, (coach) what do you say to that???? It was like she really thought that was enough. So ....is it enough?

on a serious note

Someone came to me the other day, and (i think) they were complimenting me on my outlook in life. IN GENERAL I am a very upbeat, glass is half full, kind of girl.
She said "Do you ever have a bad day?"
um, hello.
Yes,
I said, everyday is a bad day.
Everyday that I spend on this earth with my sinful nature is a bad day.
Everyday.
Everyday I am prideful.
Everyday.
Everyday I hurt one of my children's feelings!
Everyday.
Everyday I think more about myself than anything/anyone else.
Everyday.
Everyday I brush past people who need a hello, or more, from me.
Everyday.
I can only make everyday by the grace and mercy and love of Jesus. Cling to the promises.

"Better is one day in your courts, better is one day in your house, better is one day in your courts than thousands elsewhere!"

the days rush by

WOW
It has been a long time since the last post!
Well, I was miserably sick this whole last week... I HATE being sick. I hate feeling sick and acting sick and when I am trying to talk to someone and snot is everywhere, or I am laughing and a big gunk of chest yucky stuff comes up.... I just hate being sick. And on top of that so many things going on this week!!!
My blogging may end up taking a back seat, I am just sooooo busy!
I am trying to keep the kids organized and myself organized and Spanish classes in order and cheerleading "un-drama-ed" (impossible feat)...so you can see the complications.
Homework for 3rd graders sucks!!!! I am seriously disturbed by the amount of homework Mac has. It is unreal. And they do this thing called the "Riggs Program" at his school and it is the mother of all hard things...I don't even like it/understand it. We struggle with this every night!!!
This whole week, we had the most lovely weather.... gorgeous cool mornings and sunny days, but only about 85 instead of the 100 degrees...so very nice here.

bowling fun

We had fun bowling when Corey's parents came. Good thing for the bumper lanes, it makes for less unhappy children!

41 and feeling like it~

Well, yesterday was my birthday and we had a day in Dallas all planned out...here are the highlights (low lights?)
1. Woke up at 5:45 am to get Kennedy to her game by 8:30. Had a nice early morning drive with the whole family, ate a McDonalds (I seriously LOVE their pancakes, strange I know) then arrived at the fields in good. time. After we all get out and unloaded Kennedy announces she has FORGOTTEN TO BRING HER CLEATS!!!!!!! (yes that is anger in those caps) So her coach/dad and her other coach are, well, MAD, and she is crying and well, we sit through a whole game and watch her team lose. good start to the day.
2. We leave the fields and drive to Allen Outlet mall..fun place! We ran all over trying to get 7 hours of shopping done in 2. Funny how fast you can spend $500.00. We accomplished our shopping though, and I actually bought myself 2 outfits at Banana Republic! YEA!
3. Leave shopping to drive to other side of Dallas for Corey's soccer game. He has to be there at 2:00, but his game isn't until 4:00, so I take the kids and we casually drive around looking at things, until we end up in the downtown Dallas ghetto, and not really sure how to get back to college fields!!! We get back to the fields at 4:03. Just in time! (he wins his game 8-0, and that was only the 1st half score. He wouldn't let them score in the 2nd half, unless they headed it in)
4. After the game we go back into Plano area to eat at Pappadeux...yummy seafood restaurant. Emy is cranky, I mean tired, so I am holding her on my lap and then my salad comes so I give her to Corey. (best move I ever made!!!) She closes her eyes and has her head on Corey's chest, and just as they are delivering our dinner....she starts to THROW UP!! (caps are for emphasis, I am so shocked she is throwing up). And Corey doesn't know yet, as she is holding her hand over her mouth so that it wouldn't come out, and Kennedy and I are on the other side of the table and we are like "she's throwing up" so he let's her puke on his bread plate, and the waiter is setting all our dinner plates down, and clearly she is going to hurl again...so Corey stands up and tries to get her to the bathroom, only he doesn't know where it is because (surprisingly) none of our kids had to go yet!! So he starts the wrong way, and then the waiter is like no this way and he is trying to hold his hand over her mouth to keep the vomit in, and the place is packed and people are staring and Corey is RUNNING toward the bathroom with Emy in his arms and puke escaping...what a site. His wallet falls on the floor and God knows why but he bends down to pick it up , and then it all breaks loose! Meanwhile Kennedy Mac and I are at the table, and I say "well you better eat quick, we are going to have to leave soon!" So we actually eat, and Corey and Emy are in the men's room and she is still throwing up... By the time they get back, we are done eating and Corey's shirt, shoes and wallet are soaked (previously with puke, then with water) and Emy's dress is covered and her flip flops, and he actually SITS DOWN WITH HER ON HIS LAP AND EATS HIS DINNER!!!!! What a man. The smell alone, made me not want to even look at food.
5. Really the ride home was okay, yes she continued to puke, and our car is, well, nasty. (How on earth she puked that much is beyond me) and C's clothes stunk...well anyway, you get the picture. Puke sucks.
And that, my friends, was my birthday!!!

TJC #1!!

Corey had his first game ever at Tyler Junior College! They had all kinds of fun activities before the game and a meal, then a presentation to the Mayor as well as the President of the college. It is now TJC Women's Soccer day on August 29 each year!!

Mac and Emy dressed in black/gold/white and cheered them on, and Kennedy played at half time with her Sting soccer team. What a fun night!

And they won the game!!

7th Grade at last!!

TOOOOOOO CUTE!!! She looks so adorable and she loves her new school and I love that they all three wear uniforms. Mac and Emy start this week, so more uniformed pictures to come...

A little funny about her socks... That morning while we were running around trying to get ready, yes on the first day of school, we couldn't find her knee socks. So I gave her Emy's (she is 5) and we stretched them into working for that day. Thankfully knee socks are only a "chapel day" requirement.

Habla Espanol?

¡AH!

tHE eNGLISH

So Corey has 4 girls on his team from England and they are all fun and cute and hilarious!!! (and good players we hope)
We love them already. This is what we love:
"that's a right nice car you have there"
"...they just keep bringing the chips then?, you don't have to pay more?"
"I turned around and there was a lad, right there in my room"
And Emersons comments:
"Mama, they can speak Spanish"
"The English are taking me to the movies tonight"

Isn't it true that when you are around them, you want to speak like them, and soon whether you meant to or not, you are adding your own little english accent in. Scary.

I wanted to wait...

I wanted to wait to FIND my cord to download my pictures onto this post...but I feared KT would take my blog off her roll if I didn't blog soon!! (oh the pressure)
Let's just say we were totally the Griswolds moving here (and if you don't know who they are, you are not old enough to read this blog)!!! We had SO much stuff. We had Corey's truck loaded down and on the top were bikes and on the back was the grill. Hilarious! I will post the pictures later, because I feel them worthy of being seen.
Since then, we have been a little busy.
Moved here Thursday night
I had a job interview on Friday
Got the job on Friday
Had to enroll 3 kids in a private prep school, order summer reading, teach Mac multiplication (1-12),have kids tested to make sure they are smart enough to get into the school, buy $500.00 worth of uniforms, move into a friends house with them (5 Roses in one bedroom with all of our luggage...), finish remodeling our rental house here, have PODS forget to deliver all our possessions on Tuesday, call them they will deliver Thursday (yes they came), begin to move into rental house. Also coach new cheer team Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday from 9:00-1:00 (set up by previous coach, thanks a lot), try to find reasonable "work" clothes out of clothes left unpacked. Buy "chapel shoes", God forbid they wear tennis shoes to chapel, get uniforms altered to fit our height challenged boy, have numerous adult beverages to cope with all stress.
Seriously, we are busy, but enjoying being here. Life has not fallen into a good schedule yet, maybe after we move into the rental, maybe after school starts, maybe never...

I am a dork!

I have "tidiness" syndrome.
I cannot let things be where they do not belong. I do not like stuff to be out of place and all over the place. I am (surprise) not a fan of clutter and I am NOT a hoarder. I barely keep what we actually need, getting rid of things as soon as possible. That is the one great thing about moving so frequently...the purging of the stuff. I have my sentimental things, those I couldn't part with, but the stuff...whatever. Oh and it is VERY easy to get rid of the kids things (when they are not looking) or my husbands 5000+ t-shirts (when he is at soccer camp).
Today is the cleaning of the house day! I have all the products and I need to get moving. Emy and her friend Juli want to clean the bathrooms...go for it!
We close on Thursday and then move on to Texas...and more getting on with life.

kids...

My kids are hilarious...
i know everyone says that about their kids, and i do not think mine are extra funny or anything,,. but just things that make me smile.
Right now Emy and Mac are both scrubbing the bath tub. With soft scrub and brushes (not their toothbrushes) and they are working so hard on the water stain that I personally know will never come out. But I didn't tell them that, and they are working so hard together trying to out the spot...
Yesterday Emy asked me to "get me on the website to look at homes, because I like to look at homes" hmmm wonder where she saw that???
When I was telling Kennedy about a potential house in Texas she asked 1. does it have a pool 2. do I have my own bathroom 3. does it have 2 living areas. so I guess it should really be simple then...

since the last post...

1. still haven't found "the house". I mean is there a "the house"? The last time I was MAJOR excited about a house was in Westerville ohio. The little red house. And I did love our yellow house in Winona Lake! I really thought our rental house in Texas was so adorable, even though it had it's issues. Both our of houses here, are just houses to me. I really didn't want to buy the one we are in, (I thought it was ugly). But we cute-i-fied it right up and I like it. but it is not love. so to find "the house" in Tyler is stressing me out! It feels compounded by this fact...what schools we want the kids to go to.
2. had a bit of road rage last bight. I mean I know you have had these thoughts before, like you really just want to run into the back of someone going so slow...on purpose...because they think it is funny to make you suffer. I am not asking for people to speed, only to GO THE FREAKIN SPEED LIMIT! I am thinking, well who cares I will show you and I will just run into your car, how would you like that! I had a BIG expedition, you in your BABY honda...let's see how that would turn out for you!
3. scored BIG time on some actual moving boxes!! One of my friend's, sister's, husband's, boyfriends, niece (just kidding, it was said friend's next door neighbor) was just professionally moved here (@&#!!!) from Alabama and she had major NICE boxes stacked in her garage. Yipee! No dumpster diving for me!
4. decided I would make worlds #1 worst single mom. (well, maybe not as bad as Brittany, oh wait she gave her kids up right?) Corey has been MIA since July 6. (He is really at Ole Miss soccer camp, I do actually know where he is, I am simply stating he has been MIA from this family.)sucks. I guess after 16 years, I am kinda used to him being around...
5. decided to share to all my fabric softner... Snuggle liquid. It lasts on your clothes forever! I love it
