today is a day of lasts

The last day Kennedy will ever be in fourth grade and the last day Mac will ever be in kindergarten. The last day I can sit idle when Emy is napping. The last day I have to try to wake Mac up at 6:05am. The last day I can take 1 child to the gym, and then to Target and then to the mall to pick up one thing. The last day that I have to be the "bedtime nazi" ("it it 8:00 pm, you must go to bed" "but it is still light out" "i know, go to sleep, it is dark under your eyelids"). The last day of grabbing lunch out after the gym (hey one kids meal is cheap, but 2 kids meals and 1 grown-up meal (for Kennedy who eats big now) is too much money!)
Maybe tomorrow I will blog about a day of firsts!

live your best life

i don't know exactly what a prayer is.
i do know how to pay attention, how to fall down
into the grass, how to kneel down in the grass,
how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields,
which is what i have been doing all day.
tell me, what else should i have done?
doesn't everything die at last, and too soon?
tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life?
